Kickstarter crowdfunding launched a fundraising campaign for the release of the curious Thumby device. As a result, the required amount of $ 15,000 was collected in two hours.
Thumby is a hybrid of a game console and a key fob measuring 29.5 x 18 x 8.5 mm. It runs on a Raspberry Pi RP2040 processor and has two megabytes of internal storage. The information is displayed on the OLED screen with a resolution of 72 × 40 pixels, the piezo speaker is responsible for the sound. The console has two action keys and a D-pad as controllers. The autonomy of the device is about 2 hours, power is supplied by a 40 mAh battery. To charge the device, there is a microUSB port, it is also responsible for the possibility of programming or multiplayer games through the Thumby Link cable.
There are five preinstalled games on the console: the user will be able to enjoy a scroller with a dinosaur as the main character, a classic puzzle, a shooter in space, a simple adventure RPG, an analogue of a snake. In addition, users will be able to create their own game projects based on the programming languages MicroPhyton or Arduino IDE.
