TrendForce analysts predict that in four years the total revenue of the industrial metaverse will reach the level of 540 billion dollars. This indicator is associated with the beginning of the use by corporations and high-tech manufacturers of Industry 4.0 tools. One of the main applications of virtual space will be digital twins - real objects that will be reproduced in the metaverse. This technology has already entered the turnover of a small number of companies, and in the future its operation will invariably increase.
The twins are currently used by several corporations, including Microsoft, Boeing, Unilever, Siemens Energy and Ericsson. So, Microsoft will use technology for the multiverse, where you can simulate virtual models of existing objects. Boeing is using it to develop aircraft engines, and Unilever is using it to implement virtual models of production lines, which will reduce waste.
Siemens Energy and Ericsson use NVIDIA Omniverse for power plant monitoring and maintenance. They also use twins to accommodate 5G infrastructure equipment.
According to TrendForce analysts, as the metaverse grows and the models for the products used become more complex, technologies will be deployed more and more rapidly and the depth of possible procedures will increase.
In the near future, the use of twins will still be highly specialized due to the need for employee training, remote diagnostics, energy consumption assessment and preventive maintenance. Nevertheless, in the future, all this will even make it possible to copy entire enterprises and conduct cross-sectoral cooperation for corporations.
Bosch, Schneider Electric, Haier and Foxconn are among the most promising firms in terms of future metaverse deployment.
