MediaTek is hard at work on implementing Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be). New devices with its support will be released next year.
MediaTek did not name the technical specifications of the technology. However, it is noted that the company will be one of the first to implement Wi-Fi 7 in devices.
According to representatives of the largest chip manufacturer at the moment, the appearance of an updated standard will fully replace wired Ethernet networks due to increased bandwidth. Wi-Fi 7 will be the backbone of AR and VR applications, cloud gaming services and streaming at 8K resolution and beyond.
The main innovations compared to previous communication standards will be the increased channel width, quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), multi-channel synchronization (MLO), etc. The data transfer rate will also triple - it will reach 30 Gbps.
