Toyota intends to patent a simulated manual transmission for electric cars
The Japanese automaker Toyota is going to patent an imitation of the operation of a manual transmission for its electric cars. Thus, the company intends to attract fans of manual transmission.

Many car enthusiasts prefer a manual transmission to an automatic because of the ability to feel better in the car and get more driving pleasure. As a result, this part of the drivers does not want to switch to electric cars, since the vast majority of these vehicles do not have a transmission. But Toyota decided to change the situation.

A Japanese company has filed eight applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for an electric car with a simulated manual transmission. Each document notes the individual components of the system, giving the feeling of driving a car with "mechanics".

The simulated switch and clutch will adjust the engine torque. The third pedal will get a generator that vibrates and resists, which will give a feeling of incomplete clutch. The gear knob will also reproduce the work of the mechanics, a tachometer will appear on the dashboard. Moreover, at low speeds, the engine will stall.

According to the automaker, the new system will allow drivers to get the feeling of driving a car with a manual transmission, but at the same time, the car owner will be free from the problems inherent in cars with a manual transmission.
