Robot breaks 100m record
Oregon College of Engineering researchers partnered with Agility Robotics to create the world's fastest bipedal robot. They named him Cassie, he is the fastest of all such machines with two limbs for walking, he runs a hundred meters. However, he still cannot compete with the performance of a human athlete.

Experts carried out testing in a run of 5 km last year. Then Cassie was able to cover the distance in 53 minutes on a single battery charge. This time, the scientists decided to test the sprint capabilities of the robot; it completed the 100-meter race in 24.73 seconds. This indicator is the fastest among bipedal robots. The record in this discipline (9.58 seconds) belongs to the legendary Usain Bolt.

Cassie's maximum walking speed is 14.5 km/h, which is not much faster than the average human walking speed. In turn, the robot does not experience fatigue, therefore it is able to go until the battery is completely dead.
