Tokyo Telecommunications University, together with the information technology startup Forte, intend to implement an experiment to generate electricity from snow. Test events will be held in Aomori City from December to March.

In Japan, they found a way to extract electricity from the snow

The essence of the experiment is to install heat-conducting pipes with liquid in the school pool. Snow will be thrown into the pool from the street, on one side the tubes will become covered with snow, and on the other, they will heat up from sunlight. This process was applied to the convective movement of a fluid, which would allow a small turbine to run. Depending on the resulting temperature difference, a certain amount of energy will be generated.

In the role of the heating side, the developers also consider underground hot springs, which are a more efficient solution compared to sunlight. The creators did not give specific figures for the effectiveness of this system, but they compare it with solar panels.

Theoretically, cryoelectric power engineering is almost waste-free. Other types of renewable energy require expensive disposal.
