Google Chrome will curb its appetites
The pre-build of the browser received two features to reduce the “voracity” of the application in terms of RAM and laptop battery power. These innovations will soon be added to stable versions of Chrome on all major desktop platforms.

The Memory Saver option will be turned on and off manually. The purpose of the function is to free up RAM by closing unused tabs. If you need to navigate to these tabs, they will be reloaded. Google says that this feature will save up to 40% of RAM. In this case, the user will be able to create a white list of sites that cannot be reloaded.

Energy Saver mode will be especially valuable for laptops. The activation of the mode will occur when the laptop reaches a charge level of 20%. In this case, the browser will limit background activity and remove visual effects on sites with animations and videos. After the release of the stable version of the browser, the user will be able to turn off the mode on their own in the settings.

Both features will roll out to Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS platforms in the coming weeks.
