The utility is gradually becoming available to Windows 10 users who participate in the Windows Insider Program and have a subscription to the Release Preview channel. Externally, the player looks like an old version of Windows Media Player, but it uses the designs of WinUI 3.0 and Microsoft Fluent Design. Curiously, the Windows 10 version of the player doesn't have rounded corners like the Windows 11 version.

The player has support for light and dark themes. It is also able to adapt to the main color scheme of the system. By default, the application is executed in black / white and orange, depending on the selected theme.

The updated Media Player will be a replacement for the Groove Music program with the preservation of all playlists. At the same time, the new player is able to play not only sound files, but also video. It also supports HDR technology.

You can download the player from here, the installation is done manually by running msixbundle. Installation in this way should only be done by advanced users.
