The much-awaited Third Party Chats feature is getting ready to be added to the app.
The “Third Party Chats” item will be added to the list of available chats. When you go there, correspondence with users who prefer other messengers will appear on the screen. The beta of the program currently has compatibility with Telegram and Discord. In the future, WhatsApp will become compatible with other instant messengers.
The reason for introducing the function is the adoption of the Digital Markets Act in the European Union, according to which, as part of antitrust legislation, large instant messengers must be compatible so that users do not have to use multiple applications for communication.
The function is not fully ready yet. At the moment, only developers of the iOS version of the messenger have access to this functionality. The full function should appear this year.
