Johnny Srouji, Apple's first vice president of hardware engineering, told journalists about the amount of RAM in the new devices.
Traditionally, the Apple company does not disclose the amount of RAM in its new smartphones at its presentations. Srouji said that all four devices in the line will have 8 GB of RAM. Previously, this amount was present only in the older iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, and the standard versions were content with 6 GB. The expansion of the RAM is necessary due to the emergence of functions based on Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence. Also, thanks to the expansion, the hardware performance in games will increase and the operation of some applications will improve.
At the same time, the number of processor cores in the new products has not increased. Srouji explained this by the fact that Apple is a leader in this aspect (meaning single- and multi-threaded performance), so extra performance is not required. Apple believes that two productive and four energy-efficient cores are what is needed for modern mobile devices.
