Enthusiasts have released an alpha version of an unofficial port of GTA 3 for Sega Dreamcast
A team of modders has given Sega Dreamcast owners the opportunity to play the legendary Grand Theft Auto 3. To launch it, you will need a copy of the PC version of the original game, but thanks to the enthusiasm of the developers, the classic title is now available on a platform for which it was never intended.
The project is based on the open source work of RE3, created using reverse engineering. A team of five people reworked the game so that it would function correctly on Dreamcast. According to the authors, the game demonstrates excellent performance and can even compete with versions for more powerful consoles of the time.
In the presented video, you can see how GTA 3 works on Dreamcast. The modders emphasize that this is only an alpha version of the port, but even at this stage, the game looks promising.
This project has become further proof that the Dreamcast fan community continues to actively support the life of the legendary console even decades after its release.
