The creator of Magisk shared plans for the further fate of the utility
John Woo, creator of the Magisk app, spoke about the future of the project. According to him, a position at Google does not mean the termination of the program. Wu gave answers to users' questions regarding plans for his own brainchild.

So, the developer said that work on improving Magisk will continue, but Google plans to think about changes in the program. The most significant change will be the rejection of the MagiskHide module. Through this function, users have the ability to hide the presence of root access from programs that cease to function when changes are made to the system - for example, bank clients. The update will leave only some piece of the module's infrastructure.

Wu noted that in the current format, the project plays on a "conflict of interest", since the utility has access to almost all the source code of Android. Another important change will be the removal of the official Magisk repository for downloading modules. At the same time, it will be possible to download modules and install them manually through archives in the .zip format. Module creation will continue on GitHub.

Updates to the utility will also allow owners of Android devices to compile a list of processes where further modifications and changes will be prohibited. Wu also considers his further participation in the fate of the project inappropriate, so further improvement of Magisk will fall on the shoulders of the open-source developer community.
