Google talked about new interesting features that have become available in the fresh beta build of the Chrome browser. The main innovations are aimed at simplifying the search and exchange of text information, as well as improving the gameplay directly in the program.
One of the most interesting new functions for Android applications is the display of search results in the address bar and after switching to the page. It will allow the user to navigate to other search sites. The feature is activated using the #continuous-search flag.
Another option allows you to create a stylized image from text on websites. This feature can be convenient for the design of information that will be transferred to friends on social networks. It is activated using the #webnotes-stylize flag.
Another innovation is the addition of cards to the New Tab page, which will make it easier to navigate to previously visited pages. This feature will be convenient for posting cards from recipe sites or cloud service documents. You can activate the option for the PC with the #ntp-modules checkbox.
Among other things, Chrome 94 beta introduces updated web standards to improve gameplay directly in the browser. So, the WebCodecs API will increase the availability of video encoding / decoding codecs for game developers, which are integrated into the browser and determine the interaction with video streams. There are already methods for playing videos in Chrome, but they are not always designed for cloud gaming and are not able to provide the minimum ping. The WebCodecs API is designed to eliminate the overhead by making it easier to stream the incoming video stream to the screen at a faster rate, probably through hardware decoding. Apart from that, in theory it will give a performance boost for slower PCs.
WebGPU will provide developers with improved access to PC graphics resources by connecting to the Native API. In other words, the tool will allow direct access to the video card without involving other levels that slow down performance. Soon, the technology will help game designers create resource-intensive browser projects that can make the most of the graphics experience.
