At the CES 2022 event, AMD held a large-scale online presentation, where it announced a large number of new products, including lines of processors and video adapters.
Ryzen 6000 (Rembrandt) - the latest iteration of mobile processors
Ryzen 6000 is an update of the Ryzen 5000 chip range, which was released in 2021. They are based on x86 Zen 3+ cores (up to eight pieces) with SMT, second-generation RDNA graphics with twelve Compute Units (up to 768 threads) and retrace. The Rembrandt line is represented by ten chip variants divided into groups H and U (high-performance and energy-efficient). Among other features of the processors, it is worth noting the 6-nanometer process technology and the ability to work with LPDDR5 and DDR5 RAM. AMD has also released three solutions under the name Barcelo, slightly modified by last year's Ryzen 5000 (Cezanne). The main technical specifications of AMD mobile solutions can be found below.
Architecture and important differences of Ryzen 6000:
Performance tests:
Gaming laptops with Ryzen 6000 will be available on the market in February. Several manufacturers have announced preparations for the release of models with chips of this family. In total, more than two hundred similar devices should be released this year.
Radeon 6000M/S Mobile Video Cards
AMD has also announced the update of Navi 2X graphics adapters based on 7-nanometer Navi 22 and 23 GPUs or 6-nanometer Navi 24.
In total, the company presented eight video cards in the Radeon 6000M/S. 6000M series are improved variations of the Radeon 6000, while the 6000S is positioned as a competitor to NVIDIA Max-Q on ultrabooks. According to the manufacturer, the Radeon 6000S will be able to show up to 100 fps in resource applications at high settings.
The most productive of the presented Navi 2X series is the Radeon RX 6850M XT (upgraded RX 6800M). The video adapter is based on Navi 22 with Game Clock (2463 MHz). The RAM here is GDDR6 with a volume of 12 gigabytes with a frequency of 18 GHz. The TGP parameter can reach up to 165 watts.
Detailed about the Radeon 6000M/S specifications here:
Laptops with these graphics adapters will be available in the 1st quarter of this year. In total, it is planned to release at least two dozen models from various manufacturers.
Video cards for stationary PCs
Radeon RX 6500 XT is the 7th and youngest of the Radeon RX 6000 (Navi 2X) line with second-generation RDNA. It is suitable for active gaming due to the increase in fps in current resource game projects. The recommended cost of the novelty will be $ 199.
Along with the RX 6500 XT, AMD will also release a stripped-down RX 6400 for OEM customers. Detailed specifications and comparison with other current RX graphics cards are provided in the summary table:
Simultaneously with the above video adapters, AMD presented the image scaling process based on the work of artificial intelligence. This solution will compete with NVIDIA Image Scaling. The technology will be supported by adapters of the Radeon RX 5000 and 6000 lines.
Stationary solutions Ryzen 7 5800X3D and 7000 (Zen4)
The release of Ryzen 7 5800X3D, an improved version of Ryzen 5800X, is scheduled for spring. The main difference of the new chip is the increased size of the L3 cache by 64 megabytes. This solution will allow the processor to bypass a competitor in the face of Intel Core i9-12900K in the gaming segment. The performance results and other technical specifications can be found below.
The second half will be marked by the release of the AM5 socket and Ryzen 7000 (Zen4) with a 5-nanometer process technology. This will be a response to a competitor in the face of Intel LGA1700 and the CPU of the twelfth iteration of Alder Lake S.
Ryzen 7000 will switch to DDR5 RAM and PCI Express 5.0, and the socket will change from PGA to LGA1718. It is promised to maintain compatibility with the current cooling for the AM4 platform. At the moment, a test of new processors is being conducted, and at the presentation itself, the launch of Halo Infinite was carried out using the capabilities of the chip.
