Apple has not shared statistics on the distribution of current versions of its operating systems for smartphones and tablets for a long time. But recently the company posted a report that contains interesting data.
The main noteworthy detail was the percentage of distribution of iOS 15. As of January 11, the new version is installed on 63% of supported devices, while 30% are still operating on the previous version of the OS, and 7% even have earlier versions of the system. In turn, similar figures for iPadOS are 49%, 36% and 14%, respectively.
The statistics were generated based on a sample of 72% of smartphones and 57% of tablets that became available in the last 4 years. Some time after the release of the report, Apple introduced stable and test versions of iOS (15.2.1 and 15.3) and iPadOS (15.2.1 and 15.3) firmware.
