One of the leading online platforms for the digital distribution of video games and software, Steam, has again updated its attendance record. The reason for this was definitely the rise in popularity of games due to the well-known situation related to the coronavirus pandemic, when many gamers spend more time at home and hit virtual entertainment.
The jump in popularity of the platform can be associated with the recent release of the PC version of God of War - the game has been on the first line in the sales chart for two weeks in a row. On the other hand, other factors could also affect the record update.
On January 23 at 17:30 Moscow time, over 29.1 million simultaneous users were recorded in the Valve marketplace, which became the highest online in the history of the platform. Curiously, this is the third record for the first month of the year. So, on January 2, the peak figure was 27.9 million people, and a week later, on January 9, it was already 28.2 million players.
