Rumor: Windows 11 will have built-in ads
A controversial feature has been discovered in a new beta build of Windows. This refers to advertising inserts built directly into the window of a standard file manager.

Rumor: Windows 11 will have built-in ads

As one of the users of Windows Insider reported, in the "Explorer" ads began to appear above the list of folders and files. At the moment, Microsoft uses these inserts to advertise their products, such as the Office suite. Ad integrations are not available in every build - this is likely due to the terms of the system insider program.

This is not the first time this has happened. Prior to this, Microsoft advertised Office web apps in the Wordpad menu bar in Windows 10. Then a lot of negative reviews forced the developers to cancel the experiment. However, Microsoft has not stopped promoting its software in a similar way, showing interstitials from Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 while downloading other browsers.

The company has not yet responded to the insider's words.
