Recently, the start date for sales of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D gaming chip has become known. Soon, a not-too-pleasant fact was revealed that the processor did not have one iconic feature.

This is a manual overclocking function. According to AMD head of technical marketing Robert Hallock, the processor lost this feature due to the limitation of the 3D V-Cache cache power supply system, which can withstand a voltage of 1.35 V, while the CPU can withstand 1.6 V when overlocked. However, PC owners will still be able to overclock RAM and adjust the Infinity Fabric bus.

According to AMD, even the lack of manual overclocking will not be an obstacle to the fact that the chip can provide increased performance compared to the standard increase in CPU frequency. The company also warns users against self-correcting the situation, as the device may fail.

In addition, Hallock said that motherboard vendors will not be able to overcome the factory block of this processor for forced overclocking. But the manager promised that AMD will work on overclocking issues when creating future dedicated cache chip models.
