In recent years, a lot of controversy has arisen about the impact of video games on children. Often, researchers manage to prove their positive impact on children's intelligence. For example, recently scientists from Sweden found that games increase IQ.
During the study, work was carried out with girls and boys from the United States aged 9-10 years. The experiment lasted more than 2 years, during testing, experts assessed the cognitive abilities of the subjects. The main test criteria were the amount of time children spend watching TV, video games and social networks. Additionally, such parameters as genetics, level of education and financial situation of the child's family were taken into account.
During the experiment, the children watched TV for 2.5 hours, spent one hour on social networks and devoted one hour to video games. As a result, it was found that the IQ level of the guys who devoted more time to games increased by 2.5 points. At the same time, the researchers did not find a serious effect of TV and social networks on the cognitive abilities of the subjects.
