Smart watches Apple Watch, which appeared in 2014, among other things, had a Taptic Engine vibration motor. Apparently, the company wants to get rid of it in future versions of the device.
Taptic Engine analogues are available in all smartwatches that compete with products from an American manufacturer. The technology is also used in other Apple devices. But now the company is thinking about abandoning its use.
As planned, the vibration response will be implemented in a different way, the new technology has already been patented. According to her, all the space inside the body of the device will be occupied by the battery, whereas previously most of the free space was allocated just under the Taptic Engine. In the new smart watch, the increased battery will be responsible for the vibration. And the vibration motor will be removed as unnecessary.
The developers intend to position the battery inside the case in such a way that, using a movable suspension, it gives a tactile response or vibration parallel to the screen. This suggests that Apple is going to use the watch itself as the outer case, while the battery will be the moving element.
How the new technology will affect the quality of the vibration response is not yet clear. However, the advantages of this approach are obvious: an increase in free space inside the case, which can be used to accommodate various sensors. Also, the manufacturer will be able to make smart watches more compact. It is also highly likely that this technology will be implemented in future iPhone smartphones.
