Renowned tech reviewer Marques Brownlee from the MKBHD channel demonstrated the new device of the Nothing Phone (1) brand, created by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. The video showed the appearance of the device and some unique features that are not available in any other smartphones available on the market at the moment.
In terms of design, the model is similar to the iPhone 12 due to the presence of flat edges of the body and a camera module with two sensors. The screen of the device has narrow frames of the same thickness on all sides, in the upper left corner of the display there is a round window of the selfie camera. An interesting solution was the presence of a rear transparent cover with a decorative design of the inside of the device.
One of the main features of the model is the LED illumination of cameras and wireless charging, which received the name of the ultimate LED indication from the brand. A total of 900 LEDs are placed on the back of the smartphone, providing uniform radiation. With them, you can highlight the environment during photo or video shooting, and also use the device as a flashlight. It is also worth noting that in the process of shooting a video, a red LED lights up on the back cover.
In addition, LEDs can act as a simple backlight. In the smartphone settings, the user will be able to go to the Glyph Interface section, where it is possible to change the brightness or the period of time when the backlight should be turned off (for example, at night). Also, when the TWS wireless headphones are placed on the back cover, wireless charging will start, as indicated by the indication distributed around the circumference of the coil. If charging is connected via a USB Type-C cable, the battery level of the device will be displayed at the bottom. After a while, it will turn off, but by moving the smartphone, you can turn it on again.
The LED backlight can be used to indicate calls and notifications tied to various contacts and applications. To do this, the smartphone has ten unique ringtones and corresponding display patterns. With their help, it will be possible to find out who is calling or which program sent a notification on only one type of smartphone, including in silent mode.
Nothing Phone (1) will be presented at an official event on July 12th.
