MacRumors found out that the company has found a way to reduce power consumption when the screen is always on. Steve Moser from the Xcode 14 development environment found out that Apple intends not only to reduce the intensity of the glow, but also to degrade the detail of the displayed elements. In the example of the images below, you can see that the texture of the picture will be replaced with a simple outline.
The iOS developer with the nickname rhogelleim, in turn, found out that the Always-On Display will change widgets from color to monochrome. It is not yet clear whether the user will be able to independently change the type of image display or whether this will be a mandatory feature.
Presumably, only the iPhone 14 with the Pro prefix, equipped with a dynamic refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, will acquire this option. The minimum display sweep rate will enable the display of information with the least energy consumption.
