Developers can also try out the fifth betas of iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16. But the big changes are in the iPhone.

Battery indicator

The fifth beta version of iOS 16 has been released. A number of useful innovations have been added to it

The main innovation for the iPhone was the display of battery charge in the status bar. With the release of the iPhone X in 2017, Apple banned this feature, citing the presence of a “notch”, which supposedly took up too much space and did not give space for placing the indicator. In order to see the percentage of charge, users had to go to the "Control Center" or place the corresponding widget on the desktop.

Now the developers have admitted that there is still a free area for the indicator. The smartphone charge level indicator is now located inside the battery icon in the status bar. But still, not all smartphones were lucky to acquire this function, since the indicator is not visible in the compact iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini, as well as the larger iPhone 11 and XR. Probably, by the release of the full-fledged final version of iOS 16, the developers will come up with something.

Other innovations

Changed in iOS 16, the lock screen is getting more and more improvements. So, the music widget has acquired a visualizer that reacts to reproducible frequencies. Play keys now have updated animations.

After editing the screenshot, the pop-up menu added the “Copy and Paste” function. With it, you can send an image without taking up device memory. The Cupertians also changed the sound played by gadgets detected through the Locator utility. Now the sound has become louder, which makes it easier to find devices in noisy places.

Home, Maps, Photos, and Reminders now have new welcome screens that explain what's new in iOS 16. At the same time, the developers removed the Perspective option, which moves the lock screen splash screen when the smartphone is tilted. It is not yet known whether this option will be returned or not.
