The James Webb telescope took a picture of the Cartwheel Galaxy
The device again pleased with a photograph of previously indistinguishable objects of space. This time he got a clear image of the Cartwheel Galaxy. He recently captured the farthest known star.
This galaxy is located in the constellation Sculptor, 500 million light years from our planet. It resembles a rotating multi-colored wheel, this effect is achieved due to the contact of two galaxies. The small white ring is located near the center of the galaxy, while the large outer ring expands into the universe over 440 million years, forming new stars along the way.
Space object monitoring says that the Cartwheel still exists in an intermediate stage despite its impressive age. Behind it, a bright glow from a pair of smaller galaxies can be seen, and even further away there are even more cosmic bodies. Distinguishing them was made possible by the ability of the James Webb telescope to capture the IR glow - the impressive volume of high-temperature cosmic dust ceases to be a hindrance, and thanks to this, new data about the formation of stars and the behavior of massive black holes are emerging.
