The SamMobile website reports that the Google Tensor G2 processor has close "family" ties to Samsung Exynos chips. However, the previous generation Tensor was also an upgraded solution from the Korean brand. Experts already know that Tensor G2 is developed on the basis of a 4 nm process technology. It also has one component from Samsung.
SamMobile reports that the modem for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro devices is also developed by Samsung for Google. We are talking about the Exynos 5300 5G modem, which was presented at the Tech Day 2022 event on October 4th. Curiously, the Pixel 6 was criticized specifically for the operation of the modem, which contributed to the faster discharge of the smartphone's battery.
Earlier it became known that Tensor G2 is the weakest chip among Android flagships. Google said that they were not going to develop the most powerful processor, but decided to focus on other aspects: the work of AI and security capabilities. Artificial intelligence allows the chip to process voice requests and photos faster than its competitors, as well as synthesize speech.
Tensor G2 received a pair of Cortex-X1 cores, four Cortex-A76 and two Cortex-A55 with a maximum frequency of 2.35 GHz, 2.85 GHz and 1.85 GHz, respectively. The first buyers will be able to test the capabilities of the chip as early as October 13, when they receive pre-ordered smartphones in their hands.
