The proprietary firmware of the South Korean brand was presented at the SDC22 developer conference.

The main feature of the new version of the shell is improved personalization. The user will be able to customize not only the design, but also the behavior of the device through a chain of triggers and actions. For example, the smartphone owner will be able to set up their own “Training” scenario, in which, after turning on the sports tracker, all notifications will be turned off.

The second important innovation was the ability to overlay widgets on top of each other. When you move one widget to another, a horizontal scrolling ribbon will appear on the desktop, allowing you to efficiently use space and not clutter up your desktop.

In the list of security updates, an important element was the analysis of photos in order to display important information. It will come in handy if the owner of the device wishes to send a photo to a friend, which can potentially display documents or bank cards. Before sending, the smartphone will notify the user about the possible presence of such data in the image.

Bixby Assistant has also received an update. The main innovation of his work was the ability to answer calls according to a given pattern: if you select an answer using a virtual assistant during an incoming call, he will read a pre-written message to the interlocutor and hang up.

Other innovations have affected the visual part of the shell: the design of the lock screen and the notification panel, element animations, etc. The update will begin rolling out from the end of October. Among the first recipients are current smartphones of the Z, S, M, A lines, as well as new tablets. A complete list of supported devices can be found here.
