The GCam 8.7 app was only available for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro for a while. Now owners of older smartphones from Google can also try it out. The company also brought back an old feature that was previously removed for some reason.
The most notable change in the new version of the camera app is the ability to enable 2x zoom by double-tapping the screen. In addition, the “Familiar Faces” feature has become available to users again. It allows the device to determine the people who fall into the camera lens most often in order to select the most successful shots with these people.
The application has become possible to quickly save photos to a locked folder. To do this, the user must hold his finger on the preview icon, after which he will be able to select a new path to save the snapshot in the drop-down menu.
However, some features remain exclusive to the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, such as the night mode exposure adjustment slider. You can download GCam 8.7 from the Google Play marketplace.
