Qualcomm launches a line of Wi-Fi 7 home networking solutions. The release date for the new generation of routers is already known.
The main feature of the next generation chips is a common architecture with enterprise-grade hardware. Together with the transition to the new Wi-Fi 7 standard, the new equipment will significantly improve the quality of wireless networks. The new standard will enable the use of 320 MHz channels, while Wi-Fi 6E had 160 MHz. In addition, the standard will receive support for Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology, which allows compatible devices to connect to multiple channels simultaneously (for example, 5 and 6 GHz). This will increase the stability and speed of the connection.
Qualcomm also reports that new chips for routers will improve the quality of Mesh networks. For example, Multi-Link Mesh technology will reduce latency by 75%, which will positively affect the response in online games. Another advantage of the standard will be the ability to suppress interference from other people's equipment operating nearby.
The Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 platform supports mesh networks with a bandwidth limit of 20 Gbps. The first home routers with the new chips will go on sale in the second half of next year.
