Platinum Games' new creation about the backstory of a warrior witch received an average score of 80/100 on the Metacritic portal based on 54 reviews (44 positive and 10 mixed reviews) at the time of the release of the news item. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was overwhelmingly positively reviewed by reviewers. Most praise went to the visual design, stylized as a fairy tale book. In addition, critics liked the combat.
