Steam ends support for Windows 7 and Windows 8
Time moves forward, and obsolete technologies have to be left behind. So Valve announced that their digital service will no longer support older operating systems.

This will take place on January 1, 2024. Steam will not function properly on PCs with systems such as Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. Users simply will not be able to run games in normal mode.

Valve explains this by the emergence of new features in the Steam client, based on a customized version of the Google Chrome browser. Updates of this browser do not support older operating systems. Also, the Steam client will receive security updates in the future, which will only be available on versions of Windows 10 and higher.
