Rumors about the appearance of a co-op in the sequel to the superhero action have been around for a long time. Some players probably imagined how Peter Parker and Miles Morales could interact if they were simultaneously controlled by a couple of gamers. However, the rumors were dispelled by the developers themselves from Insomniac. They literally stated that "this is going to be an epic single player adventure".
There is no exact release date for the sequel yet, but most likely the game will be released this September on the PlayStation 5.
