Payday brand director Almir Listo told The Loadout that the developers coined the term "Hollywood heist" to convey to players the thrill of watching heist movies. The inspiration for the creators, in particular, is the cult crime thriller Heat with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, known for its large-scale shootout scene. Also, the developers are inspired by a series of films about Ocean's friends with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, in which robberies go unnoticed. Listo also noted the 2010 film The Town with Ben Affleck.
Payday 3 is set to release on September 21st. The game will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
