The head of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, has been wanting to get the character into the series for a long time.
We are talking about John Wick from the action film series of the same name, played by Keanu Reeves. Baba Yaga, the man, the myth, the legend, could have appeared in MK1, and Ed Boon tried to make it happen. However, the fighting game developers were unable to obtain the killer due to copyright issues. It’s curious that Neo from “The Matrix,” also played by Keanu Reeves, could have appeared in the last part, but it didn’t work out here either.
To be fair, Reeves himself said in 2021 that he did not want to see John Wick and Neo in MK due to their inappropriateness in the already excellent fighting game series.
