Filming has not yet resumed.
The Hollywood writers' strike has ended, but the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike continues after the Screen Actors Guild failed to reach an agreement with producers on new terms. This is the main reason for the stalling of the filming process of the sequel to Mortal Kombat. Also Warner Bros. considers the film adaptation of DC comics under the direction of James Gunn and the sequel to “Batman” by Matt Reeves with Robert Pattinson to be priorities, and the studio has relegated other projects to the background. Therefore, it is expected that filming of the second part of Mortal Kombat will resume in 2024.
Thus, the premiere of the film should not be expected before 2025. The first part was released in 2021 and received a lukewarm reception and not very high box office receipts.
