The company began testing a prototype iPhone 16 Pro with a different type of notch. The informant demonstrated in a render image the likely appearance of the hole on the screen in future smartphones.
Tests will be conducted until March 2024. Prior to this, the South Korean publication The Elec had already reported about a new cutout on the iPhone screen. The publication indicated that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a cutout for the front camera, and Face ID sensors will fit under the display.
However, industry insider Ross Young thinks Apple won't completely ditch the notch until 2027. By this time, Pro versions of the iPhone will have to switch completely to under-screen camera modules and Face ID sensors, and younger models will receive a design similar to the render. According to rumors, the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will have 6.3" screens, while the Plus and Pro Max versions will have 6.9" displays.
