The sequel to Fallout: New Vegas could be developed by Obsidian
Details about the never-released game were discussed by journalists Lex Luddy and Jeff Grubb in a podcast.

According to journalists from the Obsidian studio, a proposal was sent from Microsoft to develop the second part of Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 5 will have to wait a few years since Bethesda is currently busy with Starfield. However, Obsidian had to refuse the offer due to working on many other projects: here, support for the service game Grounded, and the creation of The Outer Worlds 2 with Avowed. Therefore, the company has too little time and resources to develop an ambitious post-apocalyptic action game.

However, if the data is true, then Obsidian may well take over the project once development on Avowed and The Outer Worlds comes to an end. Microsoft wants to take advantage of the hype around Fallout, which arose thanks to the release of the series, to release a new game in the franchise.
