Ubisoft apologizes to the Japanese for historical inaccuracies in Assassin's Creed: Shadows
A wave of criticism from players forced the studio to take this step.

Ubisoft has issued a lengthy apology for historical inaccuracies in its new Assassin's Creed: Shadows amid a petition to cancel the game. In particular, users are dissatisfied with the inconsistency of facts in the biography of one of the main characters of the game, the black samurai Yasuke.

Ubisoft admitted that there were inaccuracies in the released trailers and promised to fix everything. In addition, the company agreed that discussion of the protagonist has become the subject of heated discussions in the community. In this regard, Ubisoft calls for the project to be considered not a historical game, but a fiction.

The release of Assassin's Creed: Shadows is not canceled - the game will become available on November 12, 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
