The Funcom studio will show the gameplay of the fantasy action based on the Frank Herbert universe Dune: Awakening. This will happen as part of the Opening Night Live ceremony at the gamescom 2024 exhibition, which will be held on August 21-25 in Cologne.
The events of the game will take place in 10199, that is, 8 years after the end of the events of the first part of the Dune film dilogy directed by Denis Villeneuve. However, the action in the game will unfold in an alternative timeline in which Duke Leto Atreides did not die. Players will be offered to explore the planet Arrakis, collect spices, and participate in battles. It will also be necessary to monitor the fluid level in the body of your character.
