The announcement of the quadriquel of the series took place at the end of summer, and it should be released at least in a year.

A fan of the Borderlands series, 37-year-old Caleb McAlpine, has stage four cancer. Doctors estimate that he has a maximum of a year to live. Realizing that he would not live to see the release of the fourth part, Caleb wrote a letter to the developers asking to play an early build of the game.

The gaming community learned about the fan and distributed the letter as much as possible. As a result, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford received the message and responded with consent. In November, Caleb McAlpine will be able to visit the company's office in Texas on a tour and will be able to play Borderlands 4.

The release of the new part of the series is scheduled for 2025, the exact dates will be announced later. The game will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
