The PlayStation 5 surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide in 8 months, breaking the PlayStation 4 record. The previous console model took a month longer to achieve this result.
According to official information from Sony, 7.8 million set-top boxes have been sold as of March 31 this year. In the period from March 31 to July 18, another two million were added to this number, and this despite the difficult situation due to the global shortage of chips.
According to Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO, the company is happy with the sales, but it was noted that demand for the console is still outstripping supply, so there is a lot of work to be done to increase PS5 shipments.
At the same time, Sony has shared sales data for some gaming exclusives for the PS5. As of July 18, the superhero action game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales became the leader in terms of the number of copies sold, with a score of 6.5 million. Next come the Ratchet & Clank projects: Rift Apart and Returnal with 1.1 and 0.56 million copies, respectively.
