US President Joe Biden signed a federal order requiring 50% of all car sales to be zero-emission models.
The text of the document states that the list of cars with zero pollutant emissions includes electric cars, hybrid models and vehicles that operate using fuel cells. The order also proposes to significantly accelerate the study of the so-called "green technologies" that can improve the characteristics of environmentally friendly transport, reduce the level of emissions of harmful components and eliminate the detrimental effect on the climate and health of the people of America.
The initiative has already been supported by the auto concerns Ford, GM, Stellantis and the United Auto Workers association. For manufacturers, first of all, the fact of federal support for the latest developments, improvement of assembly lines and ensuring a stable supply of the necessary components is important. This should have a beneficial effect on competition in this area with other countries.
