After the release of the twelfth version of Android, it was assumed that Google would release the system update 12.1. After reviewing the code leaks, the XDA Developers community suggested that the changes are intended to improve the functioning of foldable devices.

Experts think that the update will contain many improvements that will affect the handling of large displays. In particular, the interface, lock screen, taskbar will undergo changes. At the same time, the update will become complex, therefore, it will remove the need to create improvements by each individual device manufacturer.

The lion's share of OS upgrades will affect the useful use of additional screen space. For example, the user will be able to access the notification panel and quick settings at the same time on different screens, or separate the lock screen and notifications. Entering the unlock password is also easier because the input area can be positioned to the right or left of the display.

In addition, the update will provide an opportunity to work comfortably with applications on a split screen. So, a shortcut will appear in the menu of recently launched programs, through which you can open the program in split display mode instead of long pressing the icon. Users will also be able to use the lower taskbar to drag and drop applications to one of the areas of the screen. In the future, there will also be an option to transfer notifications in order to open their applications in a split screen. Will get the changes in the menu interface and the Settings app.

There will also be other innovations in the system that are not exclusively aimed at folding devices. For example, you can activate the voice assistant using the power key with a certain duration of pressing.
