There are a few days left before the start of the Apple Summer Developer Conference. It should show several software products and new devices of the company.

The summer presentation of WWDC 2022 will take place in a week. What to expect from the event?

iOS 16

The mobile operating system should not undergo any special changes in terms of design. Of the most significant innovations, it is worth highlighting the appearance of widgets on the lock screen, as well as the introduction of the Always-On Display function. When activated, the screen refresh rate will be reduced due to Low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology, due to this, battery consumption will decrease. The first devices to receive this feature will be the new iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

Especially for new models with a redesigned screen cutout for the front camera and sensors, developers have adapted the appearance of iOS 16. Third-party software authors will also have to optimize their software for this feature. It is also known that widgets will receive an interactive interface, the interface will be updated in such standard programs as Apple Maps, Messages and Weather.

According to preliminary information, iOS 16 will be available for iPhone 7 and above.

iPadOS 16 and macOS 13

In updating the operating system for tablets, Apple will focus on increasing multitasking, similar to the desktop OS. If you believe the insiders, then iPadOS 16 will receive a multi-window mode, which will ensure interaction with several programs at the same time. It is possible that this function will be similar to tablet mode in Windows and will be enabled when a keyboard is connected.

Another significant innovation should be native support for macOS desktop applications compatible with the M1 line of processors. Also, in addition to all of the above in iPadOS, we should expect a large number of fresh solutions from iOS 16.

The macOS 13 operating system, in turn, should receive even greater integration with iOS. So, in some menus, the OS will be able to borrow the graphic style of the mobile OS. Minor design changes are expected in the system programs Safari, Messages, Music, Podcasts and others. Curiously, the update will be available for Intel-based Macs, even though Apple is in the final stages of moving to its own M-series chips.

In addition, Apple will present updates to the set-top box and Apple Watch: the tvOS 16 operating system will acquire smart home functionality, and the WatchOS platform will receive improvements for monitoring health and physical activity.

Mac and AR/VR headset

In March, at Apple's traditional spring conference, it became known that the company was working on new Mac Pro series devices. The presentation of the computer is expected at the current event. In addition, according to Bloomberg, the Cupertinians are announcing the current version of the MacBook Air. The appearance of the laptop will be made in the style of the current Pro models, but in a much thinner case. There is also a possibility that the novelty will receive several color options for the case, like the iMac 24".

Another gadget many reviewers are waiting to see is the mixed reality headset. Rumors about the appearance of the device have not subsided for several months. According to insiders, the headset will receive two displays using OLED technology, fourteen video cameras to monitor the facial expressions of the operator of the device and its location in space. The device will be completely standalone, with its own OS and app market, with a focus on gaming experience and video conferences. The price of the gadget will be about $2000, the start of sales is scheduled for next year.

The WWDC 2022 conference starts on June 6 at 20 pm Moscow time.
