The iconic DeLorean will return as an electric car

The iconic car from the Back to the Future trilogy is getting a new life. The new model will be an electric vehicle with a range of 500 km.



The Italian company ItalDesign, one of the leading design bureaus in the automotive industry, introduced the DeLorean Alpha5, a 4-seater electric coupe. The car will receive a body with dimensions of 4995×2044×1370 mm, the drag coefficient is 0.23. The manufacturer claims that the electric car will need only 3.4 seconds to reach a speed of 100 km/h. Alpha5's top speed is limited to 241 km/h. From a single charge cycle, the DeLorean can travel up to 483 km.



The interior of the electric car stands out for its minimalism. The dashboard will be fully digital, with an auxiliary touch screen in the center. The main feature of the appearance of the model are the doors that open up like the wings of a seagull. Largely because of them, the old DeLorean received its cult status.

In total, it is planned to produce 88 units of the electric car. In the future, the company intends to develop a sports coupe with a V8 engine, an electric sedan and an SUV with a hydrogen-powered engine. Alpha5 production should start in 2024.
