Qualcomm's chip was tested on the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s laptop in the Geekbench 5 benchmark. It turned out to be much less productive compared to the Apple M2, which is equipped with the current MacBook Air.

The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is based on a 5nm process technology. According to the company, it is more powerful than the previous model in terms of CPU and GPU by 85% and 60%, respectively. However, these indicators were not enough to compete with the fresh Apple chipset.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X13s scored 1111 in the single-threaded test and 5764 in the multi-threaded test. In turn, the Apple M2 in identical disciplines is gaining 1919 and 8928 points, which is 73% and 55% more than the competitor's results, respectively.

Previously, Qualcomm has repeatedly stated its desire to develop a desktop chip that can outperform Apple solutions. It is possible that the company will introduce such a processor as early as this August, and the first devices with it will be released closer to the second half of 2023.
