During the presentation, the vendor disclosed the technical specifications of only the older version of the chipset. So, the processor will work on the basis of a 4-nanometer process technology and will receive four main Cortex-A53 cores. Helping the main cores will be an auxiliary processor Cortex-M55 (22 nm) with a frequency of 250 MHz and an Adreno 702 GPU (1 GHz). There is support for LPDDR4-2133 memory up to 16 GB.

According to the manufacturer, the new chip boasts better performance compared to the previous model, which is the Snapdragon Wear 4100+. And that's not to mention a 30% reduction in CPU space. The new chipset has become twice as productive, and its energy efficiency indicators are 1.5 times higher.

The new chip supports Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, GNSS standards. Also, watches equipped with this chipset can support hibernation and night mode without loss of autonomy.

The specifications of the standard Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 will be announced later. It is likely that brands such as OPPO and Mobvoi will take advantage of the new development. The release of smart watches from the first vendor is expected in August, and the second - in the coming autumn.
