The new 5G processor is called MediaTek T830. It is based on a 4nm process and is primarily suitable for router applications.
The chipset is based on a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 (2.2 GHz). It also has Bluetooth 5.0, a MediaTek M80 modem. The chipset is capable of interacting with LPDDR4X/LPDDR5 RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. In addition, it has compatibility with the PCL-Express data transfer protocol, USB 3.2, and a pair of USXGMI interfaces.
According to the vendor, the new device has hardware that guarantees a throughput of 1 gigabit for 5G or WiFi without increasing the load on the chipset. Other distinguishing features of the novelty are the ability to interact with WiFi 7. Which devices will acquire this platform in the first place is still unknown.
