Brazilian authorities issued a fine to Apple due to the fact that the iPhone does not come with a charger adapter. Officials also banned the sale of devices in the country.

According to Reuters, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice considers the Cupertino company's practice "deliberate discrimination against consumers." The amount of the fine is 12,275,000 Brazilian reais (about $2.34 million). The department's decision will affect the iPhone 12 and 13, as well as the latest versions of the iPhone SE.

Apple intends to appeal the decision of the Brazilian authorities. As before, the brand explains the absence of a memory adapter in a set of smartphones by following the modern environmental agenda. According to the manufacturer, the absence of a complete charge allows less zinc and plastic to be wasted, resulting in a reduction in carbon emissions of more than 2 million metric tons per year, which is the equivalent of removing 500,000 cars from the roads annually.

It is proposed that the iPhone 14, which is due to be presented today, will also lack a complete adapter. It is curious that the minimum equipment did not affect the sales of the previous generation of devices in the face of the iPhone 13 too much.
