Xiaomi 12T Pro camera turned out to be the top for the money
The notorious laboratory DxOMark tested the camera of the next smartphone in various scenarios. The result was more than good.
Xiaomi 12T Pro received a triple camera with a 200 MP main sensor (f/1.7, PDAF, OIS), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module (f/2.2) and an additional 2 MP sensor for shooting macro images (f/2.4). In the process of testing, the capabilities of the smartphone's camera were compared with competing devices in this price segment in the face of OPPO Find X5 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 with Exynos chipset.
According to the results of testing, the model showed excellent performance for its price class. However, the device is far from the top-end camera phones, since when the camera is in operation, there is a limitation of the dynamic range in the photo mode and a visible adaptation of the exposure and white balance when shooting video. When you zoom in, photos become less detailed. In addition, in some cases, artifacts appear in the picture in the form of halos, hue shifts and glare.
At the same time, the camera manages to show high detail, a pleasing color palette and a good exposure in any light. The video capabilities of the 12T Pro are generally better than the Xiaomi 12 Pro and even the more expensive 12S Ultra. However, the model also provides good exposure in low light, wide dynamic range, excellent detail with a minimum of noise and effective image stabilization.
Of the minuses, experts identified sharp changes in exposure in video mode, especially when a face appears in the frame. There are also over white balance issues when shooting panoramas, AF stuttering, and inconsistent sharpness when moving the camera while shooting video. The last negative aspect was especially clearly seen in poor lighting.
In the combined ranking, the Xiaomi 12T Pro ranked eighteenth with a score of 129. Thus, it is located between the HUAWEI P40 Pro and OPPO Find X3 Pro devices. In the Premium segment (the cost of smartphones is $600-$800), it took the first place, beating the iPhone 13, vivo X70 Pro and Galaxy S22.
