The Chinese company introduced a chip developed on the basis of TSMC's 6 nm process technology called T820. It has 5G support and is intended for mid-range smartphones. In terms of power, the processor can compete with the MediaTek Dimensity 820, but in a number of other parameters it is a loser.
The platform has one high-performance Cortex-A76 core (2.7 GHz), a group of three Cortex-A76 cores with a frequency of 2.3 GHz, and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores (1 GHz). The role of the graphics core here is the GPU Mali-G57 MC4 (850 MHz). In addition, the chipset has support for LPDDR4X UFS 3.1 RAM. It also has the aforementioned 5G modem, built-in iSE security element, Neural Processing Unit (NPU), quad-core ISP with support for cameras up to 108MP.
In the Geekbench 4 tests, the T820 performs slightly worse than the Dimensity 820. In single-threaded mode, the novelty scored 2857 points (Dimensity has 3022), and 8410 in multi-threaded mode (Dimensity has 10658). In the Geekbench 5 benchmark, the Unisoc chip scored 639 and 2283 points in the same tests, while the Dimensity 820 scored 652 and 2678 points. In AnTuTu tests, the T820 outperforms the competitor with 473609 points versus 454052. In graphics tests in GFXBench 5, T-Rex, Manhattan 3.0 and Manhattan 3.1 1080p, the Unisoc T820 results in 88, 55 and 37 fps. These figures are comparable to the results of Dimensity 820, Kirin 820 and Exynos 9820.
Information about how soon the Unisoc processor will be used in any mobile device is not yet available.
